Qualifications: Degree or diploma in industrial design


Everything from i-pods to perfume bottles, toys to toilets has a team of designers behind it. Industrial designers need to know how to make things work, as well as how to make them visually appealing. They combine technical knowledge with artistic capabilities to create everything we use without even thinking about it.


"What I love about this work is the opportunity to see the design progress past the design stage, getting involved in the workshop and seeing some of the early designs take shape, and learning about the characteristics of the different materials used in the process. It’s really satisfying seeing a product finally through to the market and knowing that I had a part in the success."
