Statistics and Algebra
Individual Year 11 classes at Cashmere High School were treated to two sessions – in one, Ambassadors showing how algebra is used in their jobs, while Ambassadors in the other demonstrated how statistics is used in theirs.
Ambassadors involved included Sara (mechanical engineer), Phil (scientist), David (civil engineer), Sharmalee (electronics engineer), Nilesh (traffic engineer) Courtney, Vivianne and Peter (transportation engineers).

Complex numbers in Electrical Engineering
Electrical engineer Robert Turner from ABB visited Year 13 Calculus classes at both Napier Boys' High School and Napier Girls' High School. He discussed the concept of complex numbers with the class and talked about how he uses them in his job.
Calculus in Civil Engineering
Maths teacher Thamayanthie David, from Tamaki College, requested an Ambassador to support her Year 13 Maths with Calculus class. The students had an excellent presentation from Rebecca, speaking about engineering and the maths she uses in her job as a civil engineer at Beca Carter Hollings and Ferner. The students saw a number of examples of the practical application of maths in careers such as Rebecca’s.
