Dairy Goat Cooperative (DGC) produces goat milk products, specialising in infant and children’s formula. Our products are sold under a number of brands around the world.
The company is owned by 72 shareholders – goat farmers who between them have 57,000 goats, which supply 45,000,000 litres of milk.
Our products are exported to many countries, including Germany, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, China, Thailand, Korea and the UK.
We have four manufacturing plants in Hamilton for: spray drying the milk, dry blending ingredients, making the cans and filling them. Our head office is also located on the site.
People with technology, engineering or science qualifications are employed in this industry. We’re involved in all aspects of the process, from farming through to quality and marketing. We provide advice to our farmers around feeding goats, animal health and animal welfare.
Food technologists and food scientists develop and maintain our products. We have to make sure our food is microbiologically and compositionally safe, nutritionally sound and meets all food standards and regulations, here and in each country we export to.
We utilise the skills of engineers and tradespeople. Fitters and electricians are responsible for the maintenance of equipment in the plants. Chemical & process and mechanical engineers provide technical expertise to design, implement and optimise equipment in the production process.
DCG is mindful of the environmental impacts of farming and manufacturing. We have developed strategies to reduce any harm that could be caused by our activities.
