The Hansells Group has an overall turnover of $150+ million and employs well over 300 people. There are three sites in Auckland, which will be consolidated onto the Botha Rd, Penrose site by the end of 2014.
Our Masterton site has recently become independent and now operates as a contract manufacturer to Hansells Food Group and a range of other contract customers. It has about 95 employees and operates on a shift basis, producing a wide range of dry-blended, shelf-stable liquid and sweetener tablet products.
We rely on well-qualified people to help us in operations and technical expertise. Staff have degrees in Food Technology, Science, Environmental Health, Mechanical and Chemical Engineering; NZCS (National Certificate in Science) or engineering trade qualifications (National Certificate in Maintenance and Diagnostics).
As well as a process development engineer, we have an electrician and four engineers who work on both the factory floor and in the workshop, on tooling work, electronics, pneumatics, setting up machines and helping them run to maximum efficiency.
Hansells is a great place to work. We’re a small company with a stable staff and treat our employees fairly. We recruit Food Technology and Product/Packaging Development graduates, and trades apprentices.
We support our food technology and engineering employees getting exposure in other New Zealand companies. We maintain two NZIFST (New Zealand Institute of Food Science and Technology) memberships and are active members of Grow Wellington, sharing knowledge and experiences with other food businesses in the region.
In the last few years, we’ve had three engineering graduates work on six-monthly projects through the Grow Wellington Optimising Manufacturing Programme.
We provide personal development for all our staff and employ university students over holidays from time to time when assistant work is available.
