Fonterra is New Zealand’s largest company, and one of the world’s top five dairy processors. A cooperative, Fonterra is owned by more than 11,000 NZ farmer-shareholders.

Our business spans the entire dairy supply chain, from cow to customer. Fonterra mostly operates in two industry sectors – Ingredients and Consumer Products. The Fonterra Global Trade and Ingredients department is responsible for the manufacture and marketing of dairy products and value- added dairy ingredients – to customers in over 120 countries around the world

The Fonterra Brands and Foodservices section is responsible for the production and sale of milk powders, liquid milks, cheeses, yoghurts, spreads, butter, and cream – to retailers and foodservice businesses in more than 30 countries.

Fonterra is always looking to recruit graduates qualified in subjects ranging from management to microbiology. We run a training programme for our engineering, science and technology graduates – they’re given a ‘buddy’ and a mentor, and help to plan their individual career paths.

Our preferred disciplines include: Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Mechatronics), Science (Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Human Nutrition, Food, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Physics) and Technology (Bioprocess, Chemical, Environment, Food, Industrial, Product Development).

Each summer Fonterra offers an employment programme for undergraduate tertiary students in the Engineering, Science and Technical fields, who are approaching the final year of their degree. This is run in conjunction with the Foundation for Research, Science and Technology and offers students an excellent opportunity to get involved in a variety of Fonterra projects and gain valuable work experience.
